TREK TO SAURKUNDI LAKE (12,990FT)

Trek to Saurkundi Lake is one of the few unexplored, less known & most spectacular and impressive treks of the Kullu Valley, in district Kullu. On this trek, we traverse this great Himalayan range and appreciate the sheer geographic diversity - from the verdant, forested valleys and the flowered meadows (thatch) carpeted with wildflowers. Combine this with an interest in the variety of birds, wildlife, forest and wildflowers and the opportunity to view the many snow-capped peaks and you have all the ingredients for a highly rewarding trekking holiday in HEAT 2007 this summer even for the most laid back person.

Saurkundi Trek - What a trek ! . .Excellent weather . 360 degree panaromic view...Dev tibba & Indrasen peaks...Bright.Sunny days . .( We required there b'cos it's soooo coooool out there) .. Little Barish ki Boondh aur Thandi Hawa...Kya Kahna.
Day 1 - After a warm C-off we all 29 member board on Nizamuddin train to Delhi . .DHOOM Start right from Indore Station . .Dance, Movie . .Jocks . .whole night.

Day 2 - We reached Delhi at 6.00 am and transfered to Hotel . .Temperature will rizing like anything . .we just settled in A/c rooms and no body want to go out. .We have a brieff Introduction sessionand songs and board on VOLVO for Manali.
and in Bus also Gang of Saloni, Alpa, Sheena, Samar, Aditya, Abhishay, Kunal, Ankita, Amisha, Kriti stated their Mirchi songs .. Radio Mirchi Songs ...Chater Pater Songe and soon ended up on Antakshri & Dum Cherades.... We had dinner at Mirchi restaurent and again few don't want to sleep . .as usuall..

Day 3 - Next Morning at 8 we reached Mandi - Hotel Valley View - for freshup & Breakfast and with the Vyase River we reached our Base camp i.e. Kanyal Village.
After allotment of Tents we all set to have hands on Volley Ball. and then we all went to Manali towm . .What a big Crowd . .Heavy Rush...sombody enjoying shopping, Icecream specially 5 in 1... Coffee...and dosa..

Base camp was set up in a wider part of Kully Valley just below the Kanyal Village.
Surrouded by Apple Trees. a Small fresh water Stream and road. Manalii Townn is just 3 km away. Parvati Valley is right in front of us and Norbu peak domanent the Valley. Tents are Excellent and Food Quality was superb . .We enjoyed other then common meals is Roomali Roti, Straberryes, Tawa Sabji and lot of other stuff...

Day 4 - Accilimatization day -- - A real testing for oneself .. and amazingly all group climbed till snow glacier - -on very first day of Trek .. Mrs. Puja, Mrs. Monica, Mrs. Poornima with her daughter Anurima, Mrs. Surekha and her 9 yr. old son Varun .. and specially 72 yrs Mr. K.K. Jain from Kukshi has climbed the mountain and reached till glacier.. good strong group.. Priya from Dadar & Nagar haveli got some gife in the form of bristol because of Shoes...

Day 5 - After a brief orientation our finaly flag off for camp I - -initially it was a easy climb till ridge and then a moderate climb till Camp I - Riyuspad situates at an altitite of 2600 meters.
This day was a most memorable day b cos for few persons this was the first experience..
So they scared about height and valleyes but soon they acquented with the nature and start enjoying the views. ...
Camp I was situated on a beautiful Medows . .called Thatch in local language.

Day 6 - All participants are geared up for Exciting activities called - River Crossing.
A setup was made across a river where in background snow capped peaks are visile . . it was amazing experience to experience rivercrossing on SUCH a Height...After having a delicious breakfast and orientation for days trek . It was an easy trek ...easy climb till Dudu Patthar ( A BIG rock on the way and there is one Very STEEP way to Saurkundi Lake but our route was not this) and then a traversing till camp II BAGGI Thatch at the height of 3330 m. We have crossed two Glaciers on the way .. Our camp was above the snow patches .. . good height.
Camp II - Baggi Thatch was on the Medow situated on the foot of a BIG Mountainon which Saurkundi lake was situated. Lot's of Horces . .beautifil too are grazing and in front of us Dev Tibba and Indrasen was visible . .. After having IdleDosa, sambhar, and Vada sambhar . .Camp Leader Harish make us to play Invisible Volleyball . .a excellent game to remember the names of Team members...

Two Teams was made . .Eagles & Lions . .and as usual Lions sacrifies and except defeat ... . just jocking . .Sanjay was the captian on Lions Team .. so sad ...
Dog & the Bon and TUG off war was also played and the result was same . . Night we all enjoyed a gala Bon fire...

Day 7 - The day for which everybody waiting . .the day to approach towards saurkundi Lake .. Initially there was a Steep Climb . .as soon as we have reached top of First mountain lot of glaciers and big Grassy meadows spreads in front of us. and different flowers too.. and the View from the platue was awasome . .a really 360 degree view .alll around snow capped mountains.. grassy slopes, glaciers... really we were on the top of the WORLD..
The view includes. . Saurkundi Pass ... Hanuman Tibba... Friendship & Shitihdhar Peaks...Patalsu peak..Rohtang pass...Hamta Pass...Mount Indrasen... Mount dev Tibba...Indrakila Peak... Norbu Peak... Aliratna Tibba... Tiger Tooth... Barabanghal Range...Saurkundi Lake...Saurkundi lake....
First group includes . .Saloni,Kriti, Alpa, Anee..Pankaj from Delhi . Amir, Ahmed..Vijay..and other friends from Pune and Ahmedabad... Sanjay, Sukhbeer, Abhishay..Aditya, Rakesh .Sheena.. Kunal.. and amazingly KK. Jain..
He has great stemena dn willpower.. at the age of 72 yrs he is climbing the heights like anything..Heats Off to him....
Amisha, Nikata, Ankita, Shruti..poornima, Anurima, Sammer, Shikha,Puja, Sunny, Palak, Anil, Monica, Cheena, Tanvi, Ritica.. also enjoyed glacier sliding and few of then special BARF Ka LADDU with jaljira as a topings..
We have takes the Holi water from Saurkundi LAke... It was amazing lake . .and freeze.. Freeze..really . .it contained water from the surrounding Mountais and become freeze as reached Saurkundi.. we have made a circular trip to holi lake . .Our Guide Ratan and other had offer some prayer . .. Aditya had offer a chocklet to lake ... Everybody was very happy .. laga Duniya Jeet Le.. sara jahe se upper..I have recorded the real feeling in Pankaj camcorder . .. Our mind was full of thought but don't find the words to express the feeling.. We want to send so much time . .cos we know in our life time possible we can't cpe again . here.. so everybody want to keep it's magnificient memory n his mind... the moment beyound words . .the feeling beyound control .. Anee experienced her hand on Ice Axe . .I have showm the Step Makin gon Ice and how to rescue ourself on ICe sliding...
Our rope is also served a help line for climbing snow patches..
As we start to camp II again from the Saurkudi Pass the lake was like a SMILING FACE and another view it shoew a heart shape lake . .Look into the picture and revert . is really looks like???? .. .
Descending was steep and slowly everybody reached to CAMP II again . HOT Meals and RASNA was waiting for participants... .now the celebration time beguns . .at Camp fire ..
A Memorable day for Lifetime . .. We have reached the height on 3700 Meters...

Day 8 - An Easy Descend to CAMP III - -again crossing two glaciers and a steep rock face climb . .with the help of Rope.. Everybody Enjoyed Rappelling on a 60 feet high rock Face. .Jumaring was also demenostrated..
Food - -Chinese
Day 9 -- Again Easy descend till Base camp .. Some enjoyed Straberries on the path .. we reached Base camp at 3 pm..and everybody takes the BATH .. with hot water .. . As our batch was the last so members have experience of winding up the campsite...
Day 10. Some members visiting Manali and some Solong Valley . .At Solanf Eveybody Enjoyed Zorbing . a Great Fun .. we visit Mountaineering Institute . .Showing the ICE & Mountain Gear...Bungee.. and all ready to depart for Delhi . .having few words with Our camp Site . .a Beautiful camp .

Day 11 - Morning we reached delhi and evening board on Train to Indore
Day 12 - We reached Indore at 12 pm .. and everybody departs with their lovones .with a promice to meet again in next year but in different location but in Himalaya .. It' calls..always...
